SiL English Test 2026 is a meticulously designed, research-backed English language competition that offers comprehensive result assessments for Students.
It helps students identify their key strengths and areas for improvement while providing schools with in-depth performance reports to enhance their English language programs.
Aligned with the British National Curriculum, the test focuses on essential linguistic skills — Reading, Grammar, and Vocabulary.
01. Comprehensive Language Assessment
The test evaluates Reading, Grammar, and Vocabulary based on the British National Curriculum, providing a well-rounded measure of English proficiency.
02. Personalized Performance Insights
Other than certificate, each participant receives a detailed feedback which helps them identify strengths and areas for improvement, guiding their language development effectively.
03. Enhanced Learning for Schools
Schools receive in-depth reports, enabling educators to refine teaching strategies and improve English instruction.
04. Academic Excellence & Benchmarking
The test challenges students with rigorous, research-backed questions, fostering academic excellence while allowing comparisons on national and international levels.
The SiL English Test 2026 is open to all Malaysian students who are 15 years old and below.
Option 1: Online at Home
• Date: 16 May 2026 (Saturday)
• Duration: Around 45 to 75 minutes for each test.
• Participants can take the test online from the comfort of their home.
• Participants can select their preferred timeslot range during registration. A fixed timeslot will be assigned and confirmed closer to the test date.
• They must log into Zoom for invigilation.
• A laptop with a webcam, a stable internet connection, and a quiet room are required.
Option 2: At School (Paper-based or Online)
This option is only available if the participant's school is conducting the test.
• Date: 13, 14, 15, 16 or 17 May 2026
• Duration: Around 45 to 75 minutes for each test.
• Participants can take the test at their school or tuition center.
• The test can be either paper-based or online.
• Teachers at the school or center will handle the invigilation.
• The test date can be any time between 13-17 May 2026 with the decision to be made by teachers.
The test assesses key language skills in Reading, Grammar, and Vocabulary through 40 multiple-choice questions.
Each question is worth 1 mark, making the total score 40 marks.

• Part A: Reading (6 questions)
• Part B: Reading (6 questions)
• Part C: Reading (5 questions)
• Part D: Grammar (17 questions)
• Part E: Vocabulary (7 questions)

Awards are distributed according to the following framework:
• Top Performance Award (+ Medal): Top 1% participants
• Gold Award: Next 10%
• Silver Award: Next 25%
• Bronze Award: Next 50%
• Certificate of Participation: All remaining participants
Important Notes
• Medals are awarded only to the Top 1% of participants who receive the Top Performance Award.
• Percentile cut-offs may be slightly adjusted depending on the performance of each group.
• In cases where multiple students achieve the same overall score, the allocation of awards may be adjusted accordingly.
• Participants who have attained Bronze Award or above in our SiL 2025 or 2026 English Subject Test are eligible to participate in the Global Final Round held in December 2026, in Oxford UK.

Group Registration

Students who attain a Bronze Award or above in the Preliminary Round of the SiL 2025 or 2026 English Subject Test are eligible to participate in the Global Final Round, which will be held from 16 to 19 December 2026 in Oxford, United Kingdom.
Below are further details regarding the arrangements for the 2026 Global Final Round:
All participants will receive a detailed result slip. Their responses will be analyzed to identify key strengths and areas for improvement.
All participants will receive a certificate corresponding to the award they receive.
All participating schools will receive a performance analysis of their students, categorized by year level and language items tested.
Participants who rank in the top 1% of their batch will be awarded a medal.
